MONSTA X (몬스타엑스): 2018 Season's Greetings

Saturday, January 20, 2018

As I free up my shelf space from traces of a group I once loved, I thought I'm going to be done with anything that has something to do with official merch, let alone another calendar. But I guess the universe has other plans for me.

Yes... I gave in.

I have spent my almost unexistent money on a ridiculously expensive calendar kit once again. I must admit when this was teased, and the main color theme was revealed, I lost my shit. How can I resist if the whole thing goes in my favorite color? That alone screams "I MUST HAVE IT!", and with that, I found myself on G Market and hit check out without any hesitations, whatsoever.

Monsta X's Season's Greetings include a desk calendar,  one scheduler, a magnet set, an acrylic mini stand, mini calendar, making DVD and a huge calendar poster.

Desk Calendar

Being the main highlight of every Season's Greeting's kit, I love the size of the desk calendar. It's not totally of average height, it's a bit taller from the ones I once owned, and yet it's decent. The photos are comprised of the boys in a cafe, eating cake and all, that cute shit most of us (me) are weak for.

Scheduler

The kit also comes with a scheduler, that I'll most likely never use. It has few yet divine photos inside along with the usual blank pages you see in journals. Though it would've been nice if they just compiled the photos as section, so it's like a mini photobook you could revisit, but that's just how I would prefer it.

Magnet Set

For the very first time ever, I also got a magnet set along with the kit. Which is pretty cool, but honestly not useful at all. And given how I am with my collection - you won't see me use this. The photos are from their Newton shoot last year, which is kinda disappointing, but cute nonetheless.

Acrylic Mini Stand

Well... as for this one, it's definitely tempting to fold out and display. I have always loved things that reminds me of the boys and the same time, something I could incorporate into my room. With that said, this one addition I really liked, and if given another chance... I want to get another one that I could open and use... because it's cute!

Mini Calendar

Now this one is a trend, I should say. My Kakaofriends journal has one of these, Seventeen had one of these, along with almost every Season' Greeting's kits that was released for this year - it all came with mini-calendar bundles, which I find really amusing. Though now I do realize its use, I just really fascinating that every kit has its own version.

Mini Calendar

Ah... yes. Lastly, we have the making DVD that I will probably never watch (I guess I'll wait for someone to upload it online instead). What I loved about this one though, is the cover it comes with. A huge folder with the boys as the inner print.

I won't be featuring the poster I got, as I didn't get the one I preferred. I might also sell it soon via my shop, so please anticipate!

Overall, it's a decent kit. It's not out of this world, but given that I have been subscribed to buying a kit every year from another group before... compared to that, this one is a bit underwhelming. Especially the fact that some of the elements had recycled some photos from the past promos, and I guess that is kind of a pet peeve of mine.

I still adore it though, for it is from the boys after all, and I honestly cannot hate anything that has their faces on it. But I do hope they'll improve on thinking of a better theme and kit for next year (with no recycled material!), and hopefully a more personalized approach.

As for now, I'm looking forward to spending each month with this cuties by my bedside (in a normal supportive kind of way!).

The GMarket Store we bought this from does not sell this issue anymore,
thus I have no links for it.
