October 25, 2015

Do believe me when I say that from the very beginning, I was against the idea of me going. I'm at an age where I feel like chasing after such happenings is not my cup of tea anymore. But I guess, life has other plans, for I found myself lining up to get a huge Clark and Leah pillow in a place called Market! Market!

There was no ticketing or registration process from the very start. The only option is to line up and hope for the best. For the only rule is that it’s a first come, first serve basis.

Numerous factors such as the heat, stress, hunger, and rumors from passerbys started to take its toll on everyone. Especially the WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ways of several individuals and you-should've-came-early-instead-of-acting-like-a-complete-bitch-by-cutting-the-line people to avoid lining up. We know you are friends, or is desperate to get near JaDine. But for the love of OTWOL, be fair to others.

Good thing the people I'm with whilst queuing are complete darlings, I was able to hold on. Thank you awesome people, you know who you are.

Also a big shout out to Market! Market!'s security group as well as the event marshal team for being strict with the line. Even not giving a shit about several individuals pretending to be someone they're not just to get away with cutting the queue.

After getting my Clark and Leah Pillow, as well as an impulsive decision to get myself a Team JaDine shirt. We were now allowed to secure our territories for the afternoon's festivities which we luckily scored. For we were pretty near the stage. But! First things first: ASAP!

It was another round of waiting for everyone, for the show is expected to start at 4PM. People started filling up the activity center. People I've met while waiting were from places such as Cavite, Navotas, and Laguna. Oh OTWOL, look what you have done!

The show's hosts were DJ ChaCha and Charles. Who I must commend for doing a great job. People were undeniably tired from lining up so early. And they were able to lift everyone's mood right after stepping on the stage.

But since it's still waiting time, and I'm really bored... do enjoy some security guard dramatic shots:

The OTWOL Boys(Jason Francisco as Cullen, Benj Manalo as Axel, Paeng Sudayan as Kiko and Nico Antonio as Tolayts) opened the show with a musical number.

Forgive for I forgot the songs they sang. I got so blown away by Nico Antonio who plays Tolayts in the show. Not only did he make me swoon with his looks. He made me go all GIGIL with how precious he was being the moment he stepped out.

Nhikzy Calma who plays Gabby surprised everyone with his explosive dance number. I never pictured him as a kid who can rock to Michael Jackson. HE SLAYED THE STAGE, you guys. SLAYED.

I sadly only have a couple of shots from Gabby's performance for everyone had all their mobile phones and tablets blocking my view. To my defense, I also unfortunately only have my kit lens with me as well. And to be fair, Gabby is so tiny. So... that can't be helped.

Tolayts came out and called out his "MY LABS". Which got me all guhhh. He looks a ten times more attractive, appealing, charming and just guhhhh in person than on television. And to see him sporting clothes that is not composed of a wife beater and chino shorts, oh man. You have no idea how I internally screamed, gone crazy, and died in my mind.

Bianca Manalo who plays Tiffany on the other hand definitely gave justice to the word GORGEOUS. She's simply gorgeous. And that’s the only word you will ever think of when you see her.

I loved the fact that both stayed in character whilst they were performing "Dito Sa Puso Ko". They even kept on forming hearts with their hands too! How adorable is that?!

And as expected of the TIFFALAYTS pairing, one went overboard.

A note to Tiffany, if you really don't want Tolayts to bother you... do tell him, I'm here. Waiting.

The cast went out for some fun and games with some lucky OTWOLISTAs as well. And the team setting goes as: The OTWOL Boys - Tenement Uno - Clark's Siblings. It was so cute all through out. Balls landed everywhere. Everyone was being seriously competitive, it was such a precious sight to see. Everyone kept laughing and cheering for their teams!

The Tenement Uno team won. Which explains why Tolayts is on high in the photo below.

The next thing we know, the staff  brought out Clark and Leah's standees. With everyone thinking that they might give them away. Thank you to Charles for making us think that. For in reality, they didn't. Sad. I was so ready to fight just to get them.

Without warning, ANG PAMBANSANG BULLY NG BAYAN gets called and the crowd went WILD! Being the Jigs that he is, he slapped Clark's face whilst he goes to another area, which made girls around me shout, NO!

I was actually worried someone might go on stage and punch Albie in the face, but the opposite happened. Everyone loved him. He was smiling all through out, and his smile is beyond adorable. He went around the whole activity area, even going down the stage. The people around me can't stop gushing over how lovable he is.

As he goes around the stage one last time, and sees the Clark standee blocking his path, he punched it so hard, which made many girls semi-mad. Then Cherry Pie Picache who plays Tita Jack appeared, fixing the poor Clarkie standee, even trying to lecture Jigs whilst he was singing. Then as Tita Jack left, he kicked the poor, innocent Clarkie standee once again for the last time. Flashing a big smile to us after. Precious.

Jigs then called out his beautiful, smart, and perfect Lalabs to the stage. Eventually snatching her innocent standee. Leaving the poor Clarkie standee cold, and alone.

Then, there she was.

The moment she stepped up to the stage, her bright light shone from within. You could feel it as she walks around, she's still taking it all in at the same time giving her all to the crowd. Loving every minute of it. She’s genuine. Not to mention beautiful, the luminous kind. Where it's just not about the looks anymore. It’s more than that.

And get this, she's sang live. Everyone sang along with her as well. Even the guards. You could tell how much everyone just adored her.

"Parang hindi siya tao. Hindi rin siya mukhang manika. Dyosa siya, DYOSA!(She's of a different kind. She doesn't even look like a doll. She's a goddess. A GODDESS." said the person behind me. Everyone wanted to take a photo/video of her. Which made it so hard for me to do so. I ended up putting down my camera and just observe her from my spot.

You can seriously see her shine(paulit-ulit nalang ako, I know), amidst the bright lights and phone cameras flashing around. You could just feel how thankful and appreciative she is of what's happening all through out. She's human in every way possible. And that makes her different.

And yes, I'm proud to say that I finally got to see her infamous and undeniably lustrous "bungisngis" smile.

And of course, the whole show would not be complete without the PAMBANSANG HUBBY NG PILIPINAS. The one and only, Clark Medina. Everyone went mental, I kid you not. To the point that one of the wires connecting the barriers we were on broke. And all I could do is laugh. Whilst everyone got so desperate to get close to him.

He sang "What Do You Mean?" by Justin Bieber. Live. Despite the screaming, I think his version could be one of my favorites, to date.

The thing about James is that despite the chaos brought by his undeniable effect on people, he never fails to deliver. He sang wholeheartedly, whilst his charm swept everyone off of their feet. I remember that moment wherein I just spaced out for no reason at all. We could say it could be because I’m tired. It could be because of James. We'll never really know.

Albie and James did a dance showdown where Nadine was supposed to pick the winner. And as for the prize? A well deserved kiss of course. And yes, the obvious choice is the man on the photo above.

It's weird and refreshing to see Jigs, Leah, and Clark together on stage, without someone punching someone in the face. I find it amusing, despite such peace, people can't help but deny that two were in their own world. Even Albie distanced himself, for he's done, so done.

The hosts told the three that people lined up so early. And the pair assured they know, and they really appreciate the fact people did that just to see them. One even said that she arrived 4:00AM at the area, and believe me, Nadine's face was priceless. You could see the concern on her face and said "Mahirap po yun. Maraming maraming salamat po."

OTWOL is never complete without directors, Jojo Saguin and Tonette Jadaone. Direk Tonette was being adorable, even taking a photo of the audience for her Instagram whilst they were getting ready.

They did a little Q&A portion, which OTWOLISTAs fully participated in. From questions about JaDine, to a rumor about Leah getting into an accident. What's the most screamed at question of all, you ask? It's that if Clark and Leah had already filmed a bed scene.

Then the PARTNERS IN CRIME appeared once again, and sang their own rendition of Say You'll Never Go - repeating the number they did for ASAP earlier that day.

It gave me all the feels when they both paused in the middle of the stage and just took it all in. Followed by James pointing at the crowd within the whole activity center to Nadine, and it was just endearing.

They called in Rico (Juan Miguel Severo) to do his piece, "Kapag Sinabi Kong Mahal Kita".

And forgive me, but I had to gush about this little moment that I liked. As everyone kind of freaked out when Rico stepped on the stage, so as he was about to do his piece, James signaled everyone to be quiet. And everyone followed(Good job, OTWOLISTAs!).

James started speaking along with Rico's spoken poetry (without his mic, of course) whilst standing next to Nadine. The two watched Rico with so much wonderment. FEELS guys, FEELS.

The two left the stage to make way to Juan Miguel Severo as he performed the piece titled "Mga Basang Unan". And it was intense.  Heart wrenching, if you will. The emotions were seriously felt, that it made the whole Market! Market! silent.

An obligatory advanced birthday celebration was in order after the OTWOL team have gathered on stage, and as it was announced, James kept on wondering who the birthday celebrant was.

Sorry to break it to you, Hayme. It's obviously Nadine.

James asked Nadine whose birthday it was and Nadine told him that it was his, she even clapped and sang a short happy birthday song to him which he laughed off.

"SANA PATULOY AKONG MAKAPAGPASAYA NG MGA TAO.(Hopefully I'll be able to still make people happy.)" - was the one that hit me, as Nadine revealed her wish to everyone present.

As she blew her birthday candles, OTWOLISTAs started shouting "BIRTHDAY KISS". She had this amused look on her face. It was adorable. Nadine went against the crowd and started shouting "BIRTHDAY WISH" instead. Which is what only James heard, I guess. For he only listens to Nadine. And only Nadine.

As for James, his wish for her is "SANA MATUPAD WISH MO.(I hope your wish will come true.)" which made everyone go b'awwwww.

But since everyone is not yet satisfied, people demanded for him to give her a BIRTHDAY KISS. And this time it's for real. As James was getting ready for the kiss, Bianca Manalo (Tiffany) suddenly shouted "TEKA LANG, TEKA LANG! Kukunan ko to, iinstagram ko to hoy!(Wait a minute, wait! I will take this for instagram)" to the two. Which made them laugh.

I kid you not, JaDine interacting with children is such a beautiful sight to see. And to be able to see them taking care of dear little Gabby all throughout their ending ment was just magic. Little Gabby kept on pointing the people which the pair cutely listened. GUHHHH, FEELS.

As the two were doing their final spiels, James looked worried he might forget a word to a point where he just looked at Nadine all throughout. She gave him an assuring look. Even saying the whole spiel with him. They both smiled with satisfaction after.

I remember during the time they were collecting donations, James acted as if he’s like a baby boy proudly carrying his donation bottle. Even reaching out to someone from the audience to get her money. And he said a sincere thank you. Even showing Nadine he got money for his donation bottle. And she smiled at him, probably because he’s just precious.

During the time they were throwing OTWOL/Ang Probinsyano fans to everyone, he was literally tuwang tuwa sa sarili nya. He kept throwing the fans even daring to make the ones he thrown out reach the farthest distance possible.

The record breaking show literally was a big thanksgiving to all the OTWOLISTAs. For from the very beginning til' the end, the words "MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT (Thank you so much.)" were uttered wholeheartedly by TEAM OTWOL. And each and everyone present felt that as well. It made the long lines, and tedious wait worth it.

This show not only changed my life, but also a thousand others. And to have confirmed it myself that these astonishing individuals that made up the show are as genuine as their characters, just hits me right in the FEELS.

Thank the heavens for On The Wings of Love exists, and it's here to stay not only til 2016, but forever in our hearts.

  1. thanks for writing this. parang nandun na rin ako. i feel you, mahirap talaga manood sa ganyang mga event. malaking pasensya at tyaga ang kailangan dahil sa ang aga-aga mo na nagpunta sa venue, hindi pa bukas ang mall dapat nandun ka na, kung gusto mo talaga sa may malapit sa stage ka makapwesto. tapos you have to wait for hours before d show. pero sulit naman lahat ng paghihintay pagnakita mo na mga idols mo. nakalimutan mo na yung gutom at antok na tiniis mo. ganyan talaga maging isang tagahanga.

  3. Wow...I love this article..seems like I was also there in the venue. While the crowd were screaming out their names I was also busy with my twitter account for the trending of the event.

On the Wings of Love has proven their superb talent in the field of acting. Truly these two people are super talented, a perfect match I would say. I just love them the way they love their craft, how they valued their family, their fans and thankful to the Great Creator who made all their success possible.

    Cheers to JADINE..

    1. Thank you, it's my pleasure to share my experience. (*^▽^)/

I totally agree. It's definitely one heck of a show, a show we all deserve. Cheer's to the OTWOL team, and of course, JaDine. :)

  4. Hello, and thank you for sharing this experience you had! It sounds and looks like you had an amazing time, and so did all the people who managed to make it, including the cast and crew of OTWOL.
If I may ask, next time you write such a piece, (and even maybe with this one, if you wouldn't mind), please translate for us, non Tagalog speakers the phrases you write in Filipino, so we can know and understand what they mean. I am writing this from CA, in the USA, however I am actually from Cameroon in Central Africa. So as you can see, the people who enjoy watching OTWOL are not only Filipinos :-)

Also, thank you for your blog, and a Very Happy New Year 2016 to you.

    1. Hello, Akiba here again: I also wanted to thank you for the kinds of details you include when you talk about your experiences seing the cast of OTWOL, such as James Reid's behavior around Nadine, and her response to him. I have been curious about how they are with each other, and the YT videos help in getting a sense of that, but people's personal accounts add so much more, so again thank you for all those details you included here, and in your account at the cafe place. If you happen to attend any other future events of either James, Nadine or both, I hope that we will get to read them here.

    2. It's always a pleasure for me to share my experience! I shall take note of your concerns, and will edit this hopefully within the week (I have things drafted for this blog, so it might take a bit of a while.)

OTWOL's impact sure is amazing, knowing that you're watching from afar. I will do my best to give first hand accounts from events as much as I can.

      I wish you a very positive 2016 ahead! (≧∇≦)/

    3. Hello again Caroline! I am soooo glad you enjoy sharing your experiences, as I personally loved reading them. Please do take your time with the edit, as I totally understand that you have other things to do as well. I will be quite busy myself, however I have the address of your blog now, and I know that I will be checking it often, even if I don't write something every time.

I have said it before, however what I really do appreciate about your writing and your relating your experiences regarding things related to OTWOL are your attention to the details of what happened, and reading things here that I have not read in interviews (such as James being clingy around Nadine, and how he and Nadine took good care of the little boy from the show. Sorry, I can't remember his name right now). As I have watched the cast of the show, and read up on JR and NL, I have been trying to get a sense of who they really are, as opposed to who the media and entertainment machine they are a part of might want us to think they are. And I felt that you helped shed some light on that. Yes, you would fangirl (and who wouldn't :-) ), yet I really like how thoughtful you can be in your writing, and in your observations, and I mention those, because I think you should hang on to those qualities, in my humble opinion.

Yes, OTWOL is reaching so many different people, as you can see, and bringing people together, it seems. Here we are communicating, and we are both from different countries, and we both live in different countries as well. I am part of a group of women of different ages and ethnicities, and citizenship, and some of us there discuss and dissect this drama. So yes, a drama with a good story line can reach far and wide.

Thank you Caroline, for taking my suggestions to heart. I wish you much success with your blog, in all your endeavors, and a lot of fun this year :-)

    4. One last comment I meant to make and forgot: Thank you so much as well, for the info you gave us about the other cast members, who are as important. How good looking Tolayts is in real life, Bianca Manalo (I could tell she was good looking), and the other activities that happened on stage. It felt like you were the eyes and ears for people like me :-)
