The Seoul Food Diary: Day 3 - The Min's
Sunday, November 23, 2014November 1, 2014 & November 5, 2014
It reminded me of home. You know, that warmth you feel when you have your loved ones around. I loved this place so much, it deserves to be visited twice(or hopefully, even more in the future).
Whilst forming this trip's itinerary, I set out goals. And visiting The Min's is one of those goals that are in the 4 stars priority level kind. You should all blame Bangtan for that.
The Min's is an independent cafe owned by 2AM's Changmin and his family within the Apgujeong Rodeo area.
We visited The Min's right after we dined in Donghae's Grill5Taco. I have this little fear of being lost whilst searching for it, but thankfully, it's so easy to spot. So we got there in no time.
The Min's is quite small, but I found it very charming. We were greeted by Changmin's very endearing mother. Even giving us chairs to put our bag on. She was so smiley and sweet, I swear I was this close to hugging her and calling her mom.
I ordered The Min's specialty drink, The Grapefruit ade. (Loved by Bangtan's Suga and Rap Monster, and Seokjin's most recent order at that time according to The Min's Noona and Lee-appa. Don't judge, I just asked an innocent question. Nothing is wrong with that. I'm not being creepy. I'm just asking about what drinks do they recommend.)
Whilst Mona ordered a Caramel Macchiato? (I'm not sure, but it's probably that.)
To our little surprise it's Changmin's very own mom and dad who prepare everything themselves. I swear, I was this close to tearing up. It was such a cute sight to see, to have two cute parents running everything from the cashier, to the food, and the serving. Guhhhhhhhhh... so charming.
I remember having to see a bunch of girls enter the cafe and sit by that long table, and take out their Dark and Wild albums. The eldest of the girls were talking about who's who in the photos from the album. It was so cute, she's recruiting her friends to be fans. I was this close to actually joining the whole conversation. It was so cute.
After coming to The Min's it's not just about where Bangtan goes anymore. It felt like our little sanctuary. A place where we feel most comfortable in. A little haven where we just go, and let the time pass by.
On our second visit, we had the opportunity to meet the owner. Lee Changmin! Where his own Mom called us out, lectures his son, and made him take a selfie with us. It was such a cute moment between mother and son.
Changmin, being so nice as usual asked us where we were from, and how we got to know his cafe. I must be a little honest, I am not that much of a 2AM fan, but I know a few basics to pass as one. So phew!
His parents will probably remember me as the girl who asked about what drinks did Bangtan order, which I feel a little bit embarrassed about. But I hope they felt that Mona and I really felt at home in their little family cafe. It was such a special place for the both of us. I swear to be back!
The Min's Cafe is at the Apgujeong Rodeo Station, Bundang Line, Exit 6. Walk straight from the exit until you see a Paris Croissant Cafe. Turn left, then walk straight and go to the first street on your right. You'll spot the Esteem Models office, and right across it is The Min's. (So if you're into stalking Korean models(not that I'm suggesting.), The Min's could also be a perfect hangout for you.)

Here again! Haha. Sorry, I kinda-not-really-but-okay-fine-I-do-sort-of stalk your blog. ^_^ I was wondering if you also visited Big Hit when you went to Seoul? Seeing you're also an ARMY, I thought you might have hit this chance to visit the office as well?
ReplyDeleteWe'll do agency hopping when we visit, and we'll also drop by Min's. I was wondering if you actually visited Big Hit, if Min's is near the place?
Nah! It's okay! It makes me smile to know somebody actually reads my posts! :) Thank you!
DeleteSadly, I didn't go to Big Hit at that time because honestly I have no idea where it is. So I can't really help you with that. Also, I am not really sure if it's near The Min's as well.
Also, regarding the agency hopping, I recommend you to finding JYP and Cube first before coming to the SM and FNC office. Coming to agencies were not really my thing, and that was proven whilst we were there. Be sure to prepare for a whole lot of walking, or ride a cub if you can. For you will be walking around a very upscale neighborhood and residents tend to hate it when they have people, especially foreigners walking around their area in search of agencies. So make sure you have it all mapped out.
I wish you a fun trip to Korea! <3

DeleteIt will be my second trip to Seoul though, and while I am not really keen on agency-searching-hopping-or-something, my yeo-dongsaeng wants it on our itinerary. Sigh.
DeleteAnyway, thanks for the tip on JYP-Cube-SM-FNC visit. We'll probably just take a sneak peek of JYP and Cube, unless Zhang LiYin is in Korea, then I might take the time to drop by SM as well.
