Promises To Self

December 29, 2014

Another year will soon pass once more. With 365 new days coming ahead of all of us. there is also 365 new chances to take. Now is the time to cast off the past, and start looking toward the future.
Looking back, 2014 had been such a wonderful year for me.There may be a few major bumps along the way, yet still I am here, moving forward. As I recall, many years ago, it may because of teenage angst, looking at it, I was pretty damn dramatic towards everything.

And I guess, grace really does come with age. I've had so much realizations these past couple of months, that it all comes down to the conclusion that - "Life, if lived in the most simplest form, brings you less shit storms".

And with that, I note these little promises, and/or lessons to live by not only for the coming 365, but for more days beyond that.

1. Trust yourself. Don't be afraid to fail. Don't listen to negativity. Just trust yourself. There is no harm in doing so. Because trusting yourself gives you the reason to hold on to things. Even if thrown at by some sort of a life's puzzle, trusting yourself, having faith in yourself helps. The year 2014 had thought me so much of that. And I'm very grateful to have finally realized it after all these years.

2. "Take time to think what you truly want in life. Make a plan and go for it." - I once read whilst I was bored and silently browsing my Facebook newsfeed. Reflecting on it, I really should go for the things I want. And honestly, I'm still figuring stuff out. There could be a lot of time in my hands, but what is beyond us is still an unclear path. And so, this 2015, I want to genuinely know the things that I actually love and want. And go for them, despite such circumstances.

3. 2014 showed me that the longer you live in the past, the less future you enjoy. Each and every year, we will always have that one phase wherein we always look back on our few mistakes and dwell on it like there is no tomorrow. This year had shown me so much of that. And I had that phase just like anyone else in the world, but let's just say, I got the answer. I now genuinely and deeply realized that everything will pass. Rain might ruin your happy parade, but there will always be a rainbow that will show its glorious beauty after. And just like in nature, storms will always pass. So just keep trying to live through each and every bump you hit. Because we are always given another chance, so make sure to make great use of it.

4. Pinterest showed me that "one should not be upset by the results you didn't get with work you didn't do.". It's how life works. So work your ass off! There could be billions of graphics and themes that show you that procrastinating and doing noting is such a cute and  relatable thing, but where will that take you? Nowhere. So if you want something, or you want see something, plan that shit out and work your ass off! Because that will take you to places.

5. Keep it SIMPLE. Keep it HONEST. Keep it REAL. I saw this particular quote written in one of Hannah Maggs' weekly vlog video, and have lived through it ever since. It gave me such pleasant feeling each and every day. It was one of those few sayings that I will forever be thankful for that existed. It may be too much to say but, it helped me end each and every day with a smile on my face.

Of course there are those cliche promises where we should say that one needs to get fit, read more, and all that jazz. Which believe me I will try my best to do. But these five notes I have kept on, and on in my little life journal is something that I hope, and pray to never forget(and definitely should hold on to.) once the new year starts. And if you are reading this, thank you... I hope you take note and apply it as well.
