Nami Island: Day 7 - Out of Seoul Diary

November 5, 2014

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "Life starts all over when it gets crisp in the fall.".

I'm lucky enough to have traveled to Korea during the fall season. Everything just looks heartwarming-ly pretty, It's kind of a miracle that I even found myself going back home.

With just a day and a half away left in our Korea trip, we found ourselves travelling early in the morning, riding the train, provincial train, provincial bus, and a ferry to a half moon shaped island named Namiseom.

Another escape as you might call it from the busy streets of Seoul. Nami Island is a great place that showcases the beauty of Korean fall foliage. With its beautiful tree lanes, bike trails, pathways, lanterns and the scene of autumn around you.

Famous for being the landmark of the iconic Korean drama series titled "Winter Sonata", Nami felt so familiar and close to my heart.

Each and every step, each and every corner could be a potential photoshoot back drop. No such frame is wasted, I assure you of that.

Beating the "Meet Bangtan and hug Seokjin." part of my Korea bucketlist is "To ride a bike.". Riding a bike anywhere actually, may it just be in a simple park or somewhere right beside Han River. Anywhere is fine.

But to have rode it in a place like Nami sure made crossing it off my bucketlist special. Despite the number of tourists we were with during our visit in the island. I still felt free, relaxed and happy. Especially whilst riding my bike.

What's in store for us for lunch is a very traditional meal, as you want to call it. We tried the famous Korean lunchboxes along with a traditional Korean seafood pancake (that Mona herself insists on ordering.).

It's considered as my first every taste of the real Korean Kimchi. I'm never a fan (of any vegetable made things actually), and never will be. But this was a decent enough for me to eat.

Ending our Nami adventure, with my trustee camera remote control, we took of a fake-kung-fake tourist shots for the heck of it.

Despite the number of people, and the please-don't-go-near-me squirrel moments, Nami Island definitely made my Korean Autumn trip special.

  1. Your photos are pretty! Is November 5 the exact date you visited Namiseom? I'm planning to visit the place in late October, and I'm hoping it will be as pretty as the time you visited. :)

Yes! It's the same exact date. Our friend said we got lucky because it started changing colors around that time. The fall foliage looks amazing during mid October-November.

    3. Thanks for dropping by! ^_^ It will be my first Autumn in Korea, if ever~ so I'm really looking forward to it! I get confused with the schedule because Japan's koyo was a bit later than Korea. I'm worried we might be too early for the foliage in Korea, but thanks for confirming!
