"That's all there is."

*** THIS REVIEW MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS ***
I watched this film without prior knowledge of what it was about.
(You should too. It makes the viewing much more leveled and interesting.)

In the hopes to end the Earth's energy problem, a group aboard the Cloverfield Space Station. With two years of unsuccessful testing, the particle accelerator overloads in one test run which opened up the gates to alternate dimensions.

I'm not a huge fan of the Cloverfield movie universe, but I do find them interesting enough to actually watch them. So in a way, I'm not as obsessed with details or connections. I just find them, like I said, interesting.

The first ten minutes of the film wasn't all that bad. You have a refreshingly diverse group of people with respectable acting chops, making a rather decent but not so mindblowing script work. The story wants to be something, but it doesn't know what it wants so you end up with something dull and confusing, the marketing for it is better than the actual movie.

Highs

  • An unexpected surprise, marketing wise.
  • Interesting set of somewhat diverse characters.
  • Mundy's severed arm.

Lows

  • Confused script.
  • Relied so much on the cast, rather than making sense.
  • I had to look up youtube video essays to get a sense out of it.

Overall... it's okay. It's not super bad, but it's not super great, either.  If given more time for re-write, I do believe something awesome could be done about it. It's kind of sad in a way for it could have been something groundbreaking given that we have a diverse set of interesting characters, but instead we ended up with a rather confused end product. This movie is not for me, sadly.

Hello! My name is Caroline and I own this blog!

I like watching things, and I love talking about them. In order to bring back life to my slowly dying blog, I have decided to post reviews of the things I have watched here in this place. Not to mention my low-key obsession with taking screen captures. I used to do little thread reviews on my twitter, which I still do to this date. I also have a dedicated Tumblr where I dump most of my screen caps.

It would be nice to know what you think of the thing I watched in this post as well. Or if you have any suggestions on what should I watch next, comment below or reach me thru twitter. You can also ask questions on my curious cat profile!

Thank you for taking the time and reading this review. It really means a lot to me. ( ∩ˇωˇ∩)♡
