Bits & Bobs: Fake Glue-On Nails

Dots, a black bow and little pearls. I’m not going to lie, I
liked it.
I like having my nails painted. I feel like it’s a part me
of ever since college – where I started painting them for fun. But sometimes, I
want my nails to breathe and take a break. Sadly that meant they’ll be boring
and lifeless to some extent. And I don’t like that.
A little not so related, but is related still kind of
tidbit, I got addicted to an e-commerce website called AliExpress for the
second half of 2015. And since then, my life has kind of changed.
I bought the eccentric-yet-very-Laline dresses, sweatshirts,
very cheap like a dollar kind of cheap decent phone cases, even a fake Foreo
Luna. Going back to the topic of nails, my AliExpress mobile app started on
recommending me these fake nails – which were gorgeous, by the way.
And ever since then, I’ve always wanted to get one. And
since I don’t want to splurge on a bunch of fake nails from China – that might take
like a month or two to arrive. I decided to hunt for available fake nails here
in Manila.
I’ve tried SM Malls, Rockwell, Daiso and anywhere nearby.
Sadly I found zero fake nails – just stickers.
One fine, unfortunate day though – I was searching for fake
nails in the Personal Exchange store in Greenbelt, and one really, really nice
sales person told me you could get them at Landmark.
Which. Blew. My. Mind. Why didn’t I think of that?!
And so, I present to you… my first try on fake glue-on
nails.
Though some of you might know, I HATE the color pink. Any tone
of it, just puts me off. And sadly – pink is the dominant color at the fake
nail aisle in Landmark – which honestly limits my choices.
But since this is just a trial, I decided to give one pack a
go. And it is off this very low key flashy pack of nails in polka dots and bow
theme.
They were very long when I first put them on. Good thing my
sister had common sense, she told me off and recommended for me to cut them.
And well… it worked!
I adore it. It goes with the cover of Sophia Amuroso’s
#GirlBoss book which was delightful.
The nails only stayed intact for like two days though, given
the fact that it’s only worth PHP 59.00. I guess that still is pretty decent.
Also, the fact that I hate evening hot showers is also a factor – since the
nails come off if in contact in hot water for an amount of time. The glue also
started webbing(which you can clearly see from the photos) at the ends, so I
guess it was just right to end the agony.
Overall, I liked it. And if ever I wanted to have my nails
breathe again – I’ll definitely go out and get one of these stick on nails once
again.
