Audible: Almost Adulting by Arden Rose
Friday, June 02, 2017I was having a rough past few months. I needed something new, I needed a distraction. I feel like I need to read a new book(and I have a huge pile waiting for me). Then that's where I re-discovered the beauty of podcasts and found myself being lured to download Audible (which comes with a free book on your first purchase!), which leads us to this post on Almost Adulting by Arden Rose.

Youtube had been a part of my life since forever. And of the people that I watch til' now is Arden. I just like how her videos feel so chill, not too serious or over-produced - they're mostly conversations. And that's a good thing in my book.
Since she announced the release of her book, I was excited and desperate at the same time. But due to my current life situation - in terms of work and life in general - I was forced to forgo said desparation of getting it ASAP and just wait for it to be released in my country(if ever).
Then that one fine shitty day, I decided to check out her podcast with Will Darbyshire titled "Crash on My Couch" which was sponsored by Audible, where they gave out a code for a free trial and I took the chance to get her audio book instead.
It dawned on me how awesome audiobooks are. With the first few chapters in, it felt like how her youtube videos are. Fun, quirky conversations about almost adulting in this fast-paced world.
Most of her points really do hit home, which kinda made me feel like an emotional mess whilst walking home, but it was all good. I've learned some stuff. I've realized some things. But I guess for the most part - I'm not really the target demographic for this. Since most of what she discussed was something I was over and done with. But a bit of nostalgia didn't hurt.
I still found myself listening to certain chapters over and over again. The ending kinda felt sudden but I guess that's how Almost Adulting is. If you're looking for concrete validation and a hardcore tips on being an adult better find something else.
But if you're a fan of Arden, and love a light listen - this audiobook could be a treat for you.
